Blueprint Group Case Study

Overview

In early 2017, Daymond John, founder of FUBU and star of ABC’s Shark Tank announced the grand opening of his latest business venture, Blueprint + Co., a co-working space located in midtown Manhattan. This cutting-edge, open executive workspace targets established companies and executives from around the world to remotely set up shop in New York City. Daymond and his team designed this innovative space with the goal of bringing like-minded, established professionals together to share, create, and build a rising community of inspiring thought leaders, shopPOPdisplays included! When our team had the incredible opportunity to work with Blueprint’s ingenious team, we were excited to spread our creative wings, collaborate, and make this partnership one for the books.

Design and Concept

When speaking to the very accomplished Leslie Short, Blueprint + Co.’s Corporate Operations Strategist, our team at shopPOPdisplays learned that the devil is in the details when it comes to eye-catching design. Leslie believes that allowing people to do what they love is the best way to successfully work together. That’s why we worked tirelessly to understand Blueprint’s vision and deliver excellence.

From inception, Blueprint + Co. had a strong vision to create a co-working space that is as wowing as it is welcoming. This 20,000 square-foot minimalist space offers an all-white canvas backdrop that is dressed up with warm, distressed wood, gun metal accents, and deep navy-blue furnishings. Walking around the space you will find authentic rustic trinkets strategically placed around conference rooms and open work areas, providing a distinct look and feel. Leslie let us know that every inch of the Blueprint + Co. space was mulled over until completion to convey the perfect energy and feeling that is needed to stay productive throughout the work day grind, and it certainly does!

Client Problem

Every great design must overcome a unique set of challenges. When Blueprint + Co. needed custom signage that would showcase their business partners and dedicated members, they wanted to make sure it was something that would stand out and highlight their impressive office decor. For months, rows of distressed wooden shelves laid across the walls of the front entryway of the Blueprint + Co. office waiting to be decorated with custom designed plaques featuring their proud business partnerships. In addition to these signage needs, Blueprint + Co. needed highboy tables for future cocktail receptions and protective covers for their space’s exposed beams. However, they needed to find a team of display designers that would take the time to understand their vision and bring it to life.

Our Solution

Our team of fabricators, designers, and engineers, carefully considered the nuances of the space to produce the perfect solutions. Through various conversations, concept drawings and renderings, Pinterest concept boards, and multiple visits to the space, our team collaborated with Blueprint + Co. to perfectly piece together products that not only complemented their decor, but helped define it.

What played a large part in our success? A constant stream of communication that allowed both teams to work quickly and exceed the expectations of Blueprint + Co., delivering outstanding solutions that speak to their brand and community.

Featured Projects

Partner & Dedicated Member Display: From the onset, the Blueprint + Co. team searched for a creative way to showcase the logos of their proud business partnerships and dedicated members. Leslie had outlined two areas near the Blueprint’s front entryway with wooden beams to act as mounts for plaques. Originally, they wanted to print on clear acrylic for the partner and dedicated member plaques, but after some deliberation they decided to take it a step further. Our team of engineers and designers sat down with the Blueprint team and carefully listened to their ideas and vision, and learned as much as they could about the space. The Blueprint team was passionate about creating a display that would match the space’s industrial aesthetic. Our engineers and designers ultimately produced 4-6 plastic and metal options using rust as a key inspiration. We meticulously laser cut over 40 unique logos onto each individual plaque by hand drawing each brand with stenciling effects to achieve precise replications of each brand logo. After many discussions and versioning, the final and chosen rendition of the plaques perfectly complemented the floor of the Blueprint + Co. space.

Highboy Tables: Blueprint + Co. sought after a sleek table option for receptions and other special events. After brainstorming 4 unique versions, our team at shopPOPdisplays created a custom highboy table that offered a simple, industrial design with easy-to-open access doors, so the Blueprint + Co. team could inject their own custom lighting options. Crafted from a metal frame in powder-coated grey and white acrylic panels, it is customized with Blueprint + Co. logos that are digitally printed on the top and right-hand corner.

Beam Covers: The Blueprint + Co. space holds so much distinct personality because of its thoughtful and innovative design. One of the standout features include the striking exposed beams that establish the rustic and industrial presentation of the space. Our team at shopPOPdisplays crafted metal covers for these beams to provide protection and support to guests, as they are often used to lean against during receptions. Our team of designers went the extra mile to embellish the covers with faux acorn nuts for a realistic structural look, these protective metal cases are powder-coated in grey.

Business Card Holder: The subtle, personalized details in the Blueprint + Co. office are the small touches of magic that give Blueprint + Co. a strong sense of self and help them stand apart from other high-end co-working spaces. The custom-made Blueprint card holder is another example of this magic. Intentionally made with our in-house 3D printer, our team crafted the business card holder using ABS plastic and finished it with raw striations for an authentic weathered look paired with the signature Blueprint + Co. logo.

Valentine’s Day Display: In a last-minute pinch, the Blueprint + Co. team needed some extra props to dress up their front desks for Valentine’s Day. After working with us for months and knowing our reliability, the Blueprint team didn’t hesitate to reach out in hopes for an immediate solution. We were able to deliver by providing them with a vibrant acrylic display that featured digital printings with clever, romantic sayings and laser cut red mirror acrylic at the top for a truly eye-catching effect.
